Cher Ling is interested in engineering light-responsive protein tools for biotechnological, environmental, and pharmaceutical applications. Originally from Johor, Malaysia, Cher Ling received her B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. There, she focused on the origin and early evolution of functional proteins. In her free time, she enjoys baking, hiking, and exploring thrift stores.
